Five people were injured after being involved in a three-vehicle crash in El Cajon on Wednesday.

The collision occurred at the intersection of East Main Street and Greenfield Drive, at around 11 p.m. A red car stopped at the light on eastbound Main was struck from behind by a pickup truck, and then by a white SUV in the intersection.

Three people in the red car were hospitalized, along with the drivers of the truck and the SUV. Their names have not been released, and the precise nature and severity of their injuries is unclear.

One person was also ejected from a vehicle during the crash, while another was trapped in the red car and had to be extricated by first responders.

The collision remains under investigation.
