Two people were seriously injured in a suspected DUI crash in El Rio on Thursday.

The collision occurred at around 4:40 a.m. at the intersection of Central Avenue and Vineyard Avenue. Two cars were stopped at a red light on westbound Central when they were hit from behind by a third vehicle.

Two people in the middle car were hospitalized in critical condition. They have been identified as an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old (the driver and passenger of the vehicle.

A third occupant of the middle car was uninjured, as were the three occupants of the car at the front.

The driver of the car which caused the collision, 26-year-old Mario Arjon, was also injured. He has been arrested and charged with felony DUI causing great bodily injury.
