A motorcyclist was killed in Gardena on Thursday, in what appears to have been a road rage incident involving the driver of a car.

The incident occurred at around 12:15 p.m. in the 16500 block of Western Avenue near Gardena Boulevard.

Although details of the incident have not been firmly established, it appears to have begun when the motorcyclist, headed southbound, got into an altercation with the driver of a 2017 Infiniti Q50.

The two vehicles collided before veering into a store front. The motorcyclist, an adult male, was seriously injured, and was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. He has not been publicly identified.

The driver of the Infiniti was arrested, and is being held on $2 million bail facing murder charges. He has been identified as Oscar Villa, 24.

The collision remains under investigation.
