Lake Forest Motorcycle Crash Kills U.S. Marine

Orange County sheriff’s traffic investigators are trying to determine what led to a collision that killed a U.S. Marine on active duty on Monday morning.

The 21-year-old had been riding his motorcycle when his bike collided with a car on Lake Forest Drive and Toledo Way. The car and the motorcycle caught fire as a result of the collision.

A bystander pulled the motorcyclist away from the fiery wreck, but when paramedics arrived they pronounced the Marine dead at 10 a.m. The Marine had been stationed at Camp Pendleton.

Orange County Fire Authority Captain, Larry Kurtz, said that the Marine had been riding with his brother, on separate motorcycles, at the time of the accident. The brother was unharmed. The driver of the car was treated for minor injuries.
