Two people were killed in a collision in Long Beach on Saturday evening.
The collision occurred at around 10:40 p.m. on Shoreline Drive near Ocean Boulevard. A 2003 Nissan was northbound when it changed lanes directly in front of a 2011 Infiniti. It then lost control and collided with multiple objects including the center median, a tree, and a concrete barrier.
Finally, the Nissan collided with the 2011 Infiniti and caught fire.
A female passenger in the Nissan was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene; she has been publicly identified only as a 19-year-0ld female.
In addition, the driver of the Nissan was trapped in the burning car. He was extricated and hospitalized, where he was later pronounced dead. He has been identified as Alexcis Fabian Payan-Velazquez, 19.
The driver of the Infiniti, who was uninjured, remained at the scene, and was later released by authorities.
The collision remains under investigation, but it is believed that speed was a factor.
