A 12-year-old boy was killed on Thursday after being struck by a car in Long Beach.
The collision occurred at around 3:55 p.m. at the intersection of Woodruff Avenue. The boy, who was riding his bicycle home from school with his sister in a crosswalk, was struck by a 2001 Chevy Suburban which was making a left turn at Woodruff Avenue and Conant Street.
The boy was hospitalized and later pronounced dead. He has been identified as Eric Dagel.
Eric’s sister was hospitalized, but is reported to be in stable condition. Her name has not been released.
The driver of the SUV has been identified only as a 39-year-old male. He remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
