Riverside Pedestrian in Critical Condition


A 51-year-old pedestrian was on life support Saturday after being hit by a car while crossing the street in Riverside, according to police.

The pedestrian was in the crosswalk at Van Buren Boulevard and Philbin Avenue, just before 4:30 p.m. when they were hit by a 22-year-old Riverside resident driving a Chevy Cavalier.

Following the accident, the victim was taken to Riverside Community Hospital and put on life support, having suffered major head trauma.

Further information on the pedestrian and driver was not immediately available.
