Woman Dead after Crash in San Diego

Taylor Tannenbaum, 24, died Tuesday, after having been involved in a car crash in San Diego the night before.

The crash occurred in the Mira Mesa neighborhood of San Diego at approximately 6:30 Monday evening, when Tannenbaum’s white Scion hit a pine tree in the center median of Mira Mesa Boulevard. Tannenbaum suffered severe injuries, including head trauma, fractured ribs, and lacerations to her internal organs.

Following the initial crash, the Boulevard was closed for several hours, while authorities cleared away the debris. Tannenbaum was taken to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Tannenbaum’s car was the only car directly involved in the crash. However, eyewitnesses report that she crashed after chasing another car, a grey Toyota Camry, down several blocks of Mira Mesa Boulevard.

According to bystander Denise Aragon, both Tannenbaum’s car and the Toyota Camry were driving erratically and honking, and the Camry driver sped off after Tannenbaum’s car lost control. Aragon also said that the pursuit appears to have started in the parking lot of the Target on Mira Mesa Boulevard, although the cause of the incident remains unclear.

Although the crash is not being investigated as a hit and run, San Diego police have not ruled out the possibility of road rage, and are attempting to locate the driver of the Toyota Camry as part of their ongoing investigation.
