A fatal accident occurred near Templeton last Friday, when a 17-year-old girl was killed after she crashed into a tree.

The girl, whose name was not released, was driving a Toyota 4Runner. Following the crash, the girl was found by a San Luis Obispo County Sheriff deputy, and pronounced dead at the nearby Sierra Vista Memorial Hospital.

California Highway Patrol believes that the driver drifted over into the northbound lane while driving south on a curved stretch of Templeton Road, in the direction of Highway 41, and then crashed into a tree on the northbound side of the road.

Authorities are still investigating the incident, and do not believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
