A 16-year-old boy was killed in a head-on crash in Blackberry Township in Kane County on Tuesday.

The collision occurred at around 4:35 p.m. on Main Street in the vicinity of Green and Bunker roads. An eastbound Mazda 6 veered into opposing lanes and collided head-on with a westbound Jeep Compass.

The passenger in the Mazda was airlifted and pronounced dead later on Tuesday. He has been identified as Nathan Kok, 16.

The driver of the Mazda and the driver of the Jeep were also both hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. They have been identified as Tyler Hammer, 17, and Sergio Espana, 20.

Kok and Hammer, both students at Aurora Christian High School, were on their way home from a regional golf tournament at the time of the crash.

The collision remains under investigation, and no citations have yet been issued.
