Siblings Martrail and Charlaine Shelton, 25 and 22, werere killed in a car crash in Maywood, Illinois on Tuesday.
The crash occurred at around 3:40 a.m., when Martrail, a cab driver, had just picked his sister up in his cab to take her to work.
While backing out of a driveway near 9th Avenue and Madison Street, Martrail’s vehicle was struck by an SUV. The impact caused the car to slam into a tree.
The siblings’ mother and brother were nearby, and did everything they could to save Martrail and Charlaine, but were unsuccessful.
The driver of the SUV attempted to flee the scene on foot, but has been detained and is facing charges. She has been identified as a 24-year-old woman.
Martrail was an employee of People Cab, and his coworkers expressed grief at his passing.
