An almost fatal traffic accident which occurred on Highway 12 in Valley Springs, California left no fewer than four victims injured, including two minors. The tragic incident took place on Wednesday, March 25.
The two-vehicle collision was reported to the California Highway Patrol at about 11:15 am. Officers dispatched to the accident scene discovered two wrecked vehicles near Double Springs Road, with injured occupants.
Investigators determined that a 79 years old man was traveling along Highway 12 when his vehicle suddenly veered into the oncoming traffic lane. Immediately, the motorist crashed into an approaching car conveying three occupants.
The impact of the collision left the front sides of the two vehicles severely dented. The driver of the three-passenger car, who was later identified as 30-year-old Janeva Thorbrogger, as well as the two other passengers traveling with him, suffered serious injuries in the wreck.
First responders transported the severely injured driver to Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto, while the other two occupants were admitted into the Memorial Medical Center for treatment of their non-life-threatening injuries.
Police reported that the two passengers traveling alongside Janeva were children; however, their respective ages were not disclosed.
Meanwhile, the wrong-lane motorist responsible for the crash sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene by paramedics. Authorities revealed the 79-year-old’s name as David Alexander.
It was not immediately disclosed if impairment was a factor in the traffic collision. Investigations into the incident are underway.
