A man lost his life in a fatal vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash in Modesto California over the weekend. Police later identified the man as 36-year-old, Psyoth Sao.
He was walking in the area of Coffee Road and Ensenada Drive at about 9:30 p.m. when a car driven by Larry Lindsey of Riverside knocked him down. First responders pronounced Sao dead at the scene.
Lindsey remained at the scene of the accident to help investigators piece together what went wrong. However, he was suspected to be under the influence and taken into custody by the police.
The Modesto Police Department and the California Highway Patrol are collaborating on the investigation into the crash. They have asked anyone with helpful information to contact their offices.
Accidents are a daily occurrence in the United States. Government agencies have advised that when an accident happens, those involved should stay behind at the scene and try to remain calm.
If anyone is injured, the police or emergency services should get contacted immediately. Get an accurate description of how the accident occurred for a detailed police report, and when needed to prove a lack of negligence.
If the accident is minor, the driver should move his or her car away from the road to prevent building traffic. If there are witnesses, get their statements before they disperse and relate the same to the police.
Afterwards, an attorney with a speciality in personal injury claims should get contacted if the person who caused the accident has any liability. Get a property damage evaluation for the insurance company, and cooperate with the authorities until the investigation closes.
