On Thursday, February 20th, the Yolo County Coroner’s Office identified the man who died from the multi-vehicle crash at Woodland, Yolo County. They released his name as Jose Molina Felix, 40, of Ukiah.

The autopsy ruled his cause of death as an accident resulting from the trauma he suffered from the accident. The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office has not stated if there would be a toxicology test.

The accident Felix was involved in occurred last Friday, February 14th, at about 4:30 p.m. The deceased was driving a Volkswagen heading south on Interstate 5 Freeway near County Road 102.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the Volkswagen got hit from behind by a Chevrolet driven by an unidentified driver. The impact of the rear-end hit sent the vehicle spinning forward where it got hit by a Ford.

Felix died on the scene, and there was nothing the paramedic team could do for him. The police have not released the name of the other two drivers, and have not stated if there was any impairment on their side.

The police and the CHP are still investigating the accident. They have asked anyone with valuable and helpful information to contact their Woodland offices.

Multiple crashes often lead to fatalities when accidents occur. The liability under California law lies with the person whose negligent act started the chain of events that led to the collision.

Victims of a multiple-vehicle collision or their family, guardian, or representative can sue the offender under the California personal injury or wrongful death laws. If the offender gets convicted, the court will grant damages to the tune of the loss suffered.
