Authorities on Thursday, February 20th, disclosed the names of the two people injured in the car collision at Anza, Riverside County, California. They are 25-year-old James Weaver, of Bountiful Utah, and Conner Littler, 23, of La Quinta.
The two are currently receiving treatment in separate hospitals after the Monday, February 17th, accident left them with severe trauma. So far, they are still alive and responding to treatment.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident the young men were involved in happened at about 4:30 p.m. on State Route 371 near Lakeside Drive. Littler was heading east in a 2007 Ford Explorer when he drifted into the westbound lanes.
He then had a head-on collision with an oncoming 2018 Honda Accord driven by Weaver. Both vehicles got wrecked, leaving the drivers stuck behind the wheel.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office had to team up with the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department to extricate both men from their cars. Weaver and Littler got flown to the Valley Medical Center and Desert Regional Medical Center, respectively.
The police have not provided any additional information about the crash at the time of this report. However, an investigation into the accident is still ongoing, but none of the drivers has gotten cited for impairment.
Accidents are a frequent occurrence in California and often lead to fatalities. Authorities have advised car owners to exercise the utmost caution when driving and never get behind the wheel when impaired.
Drivers should maintain the speed limit for highways, freeways, and roadways within business, residential, and school districts. They should also keep the proper lane to avoid accidents, and change lanes only when appropriate.
