Hector Lara

On Monday, February 24th, at the Palmdale Sheriff’s Office, north of Los Angeles, California, a man who was involved in an accident and fled the scene turned himself in. The police identified him as 26-year-old Hector Lara.

The young man showed up at the station after the police failed to track him down. They have been looking for him after he fled on foot and abandoned his car at the scene of a collision with a motorcycle.

The accident happened on February 8th, after Lara ran a red light at the intersection of 15th Street West and Rancho Vista Boulevard. The act made him crash into the motorcycle, 37-year-old Michael Davis was riding.

The autopsy performed by the coroner of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s office ruled that Davis died at the scene of the crash. The cause of death got listed as an accident resulting from blunt force trauma.

There is no additional information about the accident at the time of this report. But the police arrested Lara and charged him with felony hit-and-run before releasing him on bond.

The charge against the young driver is taken seriously by the courts in California. The state vehicle laws provide that when there’s an accident, a person must stop at the next available place where the traffic flow won’t be impeded and return to the scene of the accident.

The person must aid the authorities in their investigation and provide all the information necessary. The person can only leave the scene of the accident after the police conclude their preliminary findings and be available for any follow-up interview.
