Christian Davis Slams Car into Crowd on Highway 101

A car accident in Encinitas, 24 miles to San Diego, California on Sunday, March 1st, left two people severely injured, and one person with a minor injury. The victims have not been identified, but police identified the driver as Christian Dwight Davis, 28.

According to the police report, Davis, who was drinking at a bar, got kicked out. Angry, he got into his rental van and slammed into a group of people in the front of The Saloon at 546 Coast Highway 101 at about 1:45 a.m.

Two people whom the police identified as between ages 24 and 25 were rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. A third person with zero identification had minor injuries and was treated for it at the scene.

Davis ran from the scene of the accident, and witnesses at the scene chased him down. They caught him although two people had minor scrapes from the scuffle, and kept him until the police arrived.

The young man got arrested and got booked into the Vista County Jail without bail. He is being held on suspicion of resisting arrest and three counts of attempted murder.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing, and the police have asked witnesses who haven’t given their statement to come to the station. Under the California Penal Code, attempted murder is defined as a person willfully trying to kill another but not succeeding.

It is a felony and a violent one that is taken seriously in California courts. It is divided into first and second-degree attempted murder and the former gets a life sentence in state prison, and the latter, five, seven, or nine years.
