The police in Highland, 5 miles from San Bernardino, California, on Tuesday, March 3rd, arrested and detained the alleged suspect of a DUI crash. Rachel Hibbert, 36, was under the influence of either drugs or alcohol when she crashed into another vehicle.

The accident happened in the area of Tippecanoe Avenue and 3rd Street on Monday, March 2nd. Hibbert started the chain of events that led to the crash while driving a 2018 GMC Sierra, heading north, at about 6:40 p.m.

At the time, a Kia Soul was heading west on 3rd Street. A report by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office showed that the female driver ran a red light at the intersection, a move that made her slam into the Kia.

The driver of the vehicle, who was identified as a 27-year-old female, sustained severe injuries. Paramedics at the scene took her to Loma Linda Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Hibbert, on the other hand, was taken to St. Bernardine Medical Center, where she received treatment for minor injuries. Afterward, the police arrested and booked her into the West Valley Detention Center, with no option of bail.

The woman is facing a murder charge and will remain in custody until her arraignment. The accident is still under investigation, and the authorities have asked anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Region One Major Accident Investigation Team.

A murder charge in California in the first-degree carries 25 years to life sentence, or life imprisonment without parole. A second-degree murder charge carries a sentence of 15 years to life in state prison.
