Rocky Clark Causes Motorcycle Crash in Sonoma County, Injures Douglas Lindt

An accident in Sonoma County, 35 miles from Oakland, California, left a man critically injured, and another facing a DUI charge. The California Highway Patrol on Tuesday, March 3rd, released the details of the crash.

According to CHP, Douglas Lindt, 25, of Petaluma, sustained severe injuries after crashing his motorcycle. The young man lost control of the bike while traveling east on Valley Ford Road in unincorporated Sonoma County at about 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, February 29th.

Lindt’s motorcycle went off the roadway down a dirt and grass embankment before crashing into a barbed-wire fence. First responders took the man to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.

A preliminary investigation uncovered that the injured man was riding his motorcycle alongside another man, Rocky Clark, 42. The latter drove to the scene after the crash and had a chat with CHP officers.

The officers noticed that Clark seemed intoxicated either with drugs and alcohol and detained him on suspicion of driving under the influence. The CHP has not stated if the man will be formally charged, and they did not release an update on Lindt’s condition.

Driving under the influence is either charged as a misdemeanor or felony in California. The kind of charge a person gets depends on whether he or she is a first time or repeat offender.

A first DUI charge means zero prison time, fines, hours of community service, license suspension, and possible probation. When a person is a repeat offender, he or she might get prison time depending on the circumstances of the case.
