An accident in Bishop, California, ended the life of one unidentified person and left Tyler Nollen, of Brisbane, and Claudia S. Ramirez with severe injuries. The single-vehicle crash occurred on Thursday, March 5th.

The accident happened on US 395 between Bishop and Toms Place, according to the California Highway Patrol. In its report, the CHP stated that Nollen was driving a 2013 Honda Civic north on US 395 north of Lower Creek Road at a speed of 65 miles per hour.

Suddenly, for unknown reasons, the Honda left the road, went airborne, and landed on its wheels on a dry creek bed. The people in the vehicle were trapped, and it took the efforts of emergency services personnel to bring them out.

The passenger, who wasn’t listed as a male or female but as a 31-year-old, died at the scene. Nollen and Ramirez were taken to the Mammoth Lakes Hospital, where they received treatment for life-threatening wounds.

Several off-duty officers were at the scene of the accident to render assistance. They include the Mono County Sheriff’s Office, Mammoth Lakes Fire Department, and Wheeler Crest Volunteer Fire Department.

Symons Ambulance and the California Department of Transportation also assisted. The investigation into the reason for the crash is still ongoing.
