The identity of the man who died in a pedestrian accident in Bakersfield, California, has been confirmed and released by the Kern County Coroner’s Office. The coroner identified the deceased as Daniel Lee Bennet, 36.
The man passed away from the injuries sustained from the accident, and the cause of death was listed as an accident resulting from blunt force trauma. There will be no toxicology report on the deceased.
Bennet departed this world precisely one week ago on Tuesday, March 3rd. A report filed by the California Highway Patrol showed that the deceased was heading east on foot on Highway 119 close to Erro Ranch Road at about 5:43 a.m. when a pickup truck knocked him down.
The man was also reportedly struck by other vehicles on the roadway, and paramedics declared him dead after an examination at the scene. The driver of the truck stayed behind and answered questions from the CHP.
Alcohol or drugs, or a combination of both are not factors in the accident, but the authorities have not uncovered what led to the driver hitting the pedestrian. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing, and the unnamed driver has not been cited.
Vehicle-versus-pedestrian accidents either leave a person dead or with severe injuries that are sometimes life-altering. Some common injuries sustained are head trauma like skull fractures, concussions, hemorrhages, and internal swelling.
There are lower-body injuries that lead to pelvis fractures, abrasions, and torn knee ligaments. Another kind is torso injuries that affect the rib cage, liver, lungs, and sometimes lead to organ rupture.
