Authorities: James Saccotelli Killed In 2-Vehicle Crash Near Oakville

Authorities said a Rochester man is dead after a two-vehicle crash Monday night near Oakville.

James A. Saccotelli, 67, was reported dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at about 9:15 p.m. Monday near the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis reservation, the Washington State Patrol reported this week. It’s unclear whether the incident resulted in any additional injuries.

Troopers reported that Saccotelli was driving south on Moon Road on Monday night when he attempted to turn left onto U.S. 12. His sedan then was struck broadside on the driver’s side by a second vehicle, which was operated by Mikhail I. Kukhar, 52, of Oakville, authorities said.

Saccotelli succumbed to his injuries at the scene, troopers said. Both he and Kukhar were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Troopers shut down the roadway for nearly four hours while they worked at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Washington State Patrol.

The Washington State Patrol has not disclosed whether the investigation suggests other factors might have contributed to the crash. Information released by the state agency also does not indicate whether any citations were issued.
