A Marshfield man was indicted this week on a murder charge for allegedly being drunk behind the wheel when he caused a December crash that killed a 13-year-old girl.
Gregory Goodsell, 31, on Friday was indicted on charges of second-degree murder, motor vehicle manslaughter while operating under the influence, motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash and two counts of operating under the influence causing injury, according to a press release from Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz.
Authorities were called to a report of a two-car crash at Church and Oak streets in Pembroke early morning Dec. 29. First responders reported finding two heavily damaged vehicles, one of which had three occupants, all of whom were injured, and the other, occupied by Goodsell.
Elizabeth Zisserson, 50, was injured, as were her passengers, 13-year-olds Claire Zisserson and Kendall Zemotel, authorities said. Both teens were transported to Children’s Hospital in Boston, where Claire Zisserson later was pronounced dead.
Investigators later determined Goodsell had attended a house part in Pembroke before the crash. He allegedly struck a tree, damaging a headlight, before crashing into Elizabeth Zisserson’s vehicle.
Investigators said they found a bottle of whiskey and a beer can inside Goodsell’s vehicle.
