CHP Reveals Details of Mark Luther’s Death in San Diego Traffic Collision

A fatal crash which took place last week Wednesday in San Diego, California, claimed the lives of two motorists along Interstate 5. The California Highway Patrol, on Saturday, March 14, shared details of the ghastly crash.

The incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday, March 11, and involved two vehicles, one of which was a black Sedan driven by one of the fatal victims.

Authorities disclosed that the fatal accident was called in at about 1:15 am, shortly after it occurred.

Officers of the CHP reported that an emergency call was placed to the police department, reporting a black Sedan travelling south, through the northbound traffic lanes of I-5, near 4th Avenue overpass, prior to the two-vehicle collision.

While moving against the northbound traffic, the offending vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming car. The two motorists, who were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles, were killed in the crash.

One of the demised drivers was identified as Mark R. Luther, a 58-year-old male. The other fatal victim, whose name was not disclosed, was reportedly a 33-year-old woman from San Diego.

Investigators did not immediately determine which of the motorists was responsible for the wrong-way collision. No other vehicle was affected.

Pending the results of post-mortem examinations carried out on the two victims, it remains unclear whether intoxication and use of controlled substances were factors in the fatal accident.

Further investigations would also ascertain if other causative factors like impairment, over speeding, or illegal lane change were involved.
