On Sunday, March 15th, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, Fresno, California, disclosed the identity of the three women who passed away from a two-vehicle collision. Shor Xiong, 60, Koua Vang Xiong, 54, and Mai Yang, 74, all residents of Fresno, passed away from injuries sustained during the crash.
The tragic accident that claimed the lives of the women occurred on the morning of Friday, March 13th, at about 1:30 a.m. The collision occurred precisely at Millerton Road and Bellagio Road, near Millerton Lake, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Sheriff’s office report uncovered that 64-year-old Ty Wood Sr. started the chain of events that led to the crash. The Coarsegold resident was driving a Nissan pickup truck, heading north on Millerton Road when he drifted into the opposite lanes.
The move caused the Nissan to collide head-on with an oncoming Toyota Corolla heading south. The latter was driven by 60-year-old James Vang of Fresno, who sustained severe injuries and was flown to the hospital for treatment.
The front passenger of the Toyota, a male named Noa Y. Moua, 50, was also severely injured and taken to CMRC for treatment. Shor, Koua, and Mai, who were the back passengers of the Toyota, died at the scene.
Wood Sr., also died at the scene of the accident from extensive injuries. Drugs and alcohol do not seem to have played a role in the crash, but the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
The CHP heads the investigation, and anyone with relevant and helpful information should contact its Fresno office.
