Coroner: Michelle Roman, Eliesel Rivera, Joseph Lopez, Victims of Sorrento Valley Accident


The San Diego County Coroner’s Office San Diego, California, on Monday, March 16th, released the names of the three people who lost their lives in a fatal vehicle crash. They were identified as Michelle Roman, 18, Eliesel Rivera, 19, and Joseph Lopez, 19.

The three died from the injuries sustained in the Friday, March 13th, tragic accident. The preliminary accident report showed that the truck Roman, Rivera, and Lopez were traveling in slammed into a pine tree in the Sorrento Valley neighborhood.

The San Diego residents were passengers in the front seat of the truck. The vehicle was speeding on the southbound road of Camino Santa Fe near Miratech Drive when the driver lost control at about 9:45 p.m.

The truck then rotated counter-clockwise, before jumping a median, and hitting the tree. The vehicle burst into flames with the occupants inside, killing Roman, Rivera, and Lopez.

The driver, an unidentified 18-year-old female, survived, but she suffered severe third and fourth-degree burns. The medics took her to a burn center, but there’s no update on how she’s doing at the time of this report.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office is heading the investigation. There was no sign of impairment on the part of the driver, leading the police to rule out the influence of drugs or alcohol.
