Bicyclist Killed In Huntington Beach Accident Identified As Hector Carrillo

The fatal victim of an auto-bicycle crash, which took place two weeks ago along pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach, California, has been identified by the city’s police department. Authorities on Wednesday, March 18, disclosed the deceased’s identity as Hector Carrillo, a 62-year-old resident of Huntington Beach.

The incident took place at about 10:16 pm on Friday, March 6. According to investigating officers, the local was propelling his bicycle through the Pacific Coast Highway, heading south when for reasons yet to be confirmed, he went across the road, taking to the northbound traffic lanes of the freeway, near Seapoint Street.

Just then, a 2014 Honda CR-V plying the north lanes collided with the bicycle and its rider, knocking them both to the ground.

The motorist, a 72-year-old Huntington Beach resident, pulled over and stayed at the scene until law enforcement operatives arrived. The driver obliged the officers’ inquiries without incident.

Medics accompanying the responding officers confirmed the bicycle rider dead, due to a serious head injury sustained in the fall. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Authorities affirmed that neither alcohol nor drugs were believed to have played a part in the deadly occurrence. The incident remains under investigation by the Huntington Beach Police Department to determine the cause of the crash. Witnesses with helpful information that could facilitate the investigative procedure were asked to contact the city’s police traffic investigator, Adam Turner
