Carolyn Rampley Charged with 1st-Degree-Homicide Over Death of Ashley Faucett in Fatal Crash

A sixty-year-old woman has been brought to book by Cherokee County deputies in connection with the death of 25-year-old Ashley Faucett in an allegedly instigated traffic accident, which left the fatal victim’s 6-year-old daughter injured. The culprit was arrested following a tip-off on Wednesday, March 18, in the northern region of Cherokee County, California.

The vile contrivance, which led to Faucett’s demise, took place at about 2:30 pm on Friday, March 13. The county sheriff’s office reported that the deceased was driving an SUV through the north traffic lanes of Interstate 575, near Airport Drive when she drifted off the road, rolled several times and crashed into the woods.

Detectives gathered that the sudden drift was induced by another motorist plying the route in a black Chevrolet Sedan while driving aggressively. The reckless driver forced the victim off the road, causing her to crash to her death.

While the SUV driver died in the accident, her 6-year-old, who was in the car at the time of the crash, escaped with major injuries.

Following the tragic occurrence, authorities were on the lookout for a car that fit the description of the hit-and-run Chevrolet, also putting out several public notices.

The search eventually paid off this week when a motorist notified authorities about a woman driving aggressively along the same route on I-575 who fit the description.

The felon, who was later identified as 60-year-old Carolyn Rampley of Canton, was eventually arrested on charges of first-degree vehicular homicide, aggressive driving, reckless driving and hit-and-run, after enduring rounds of investigations.

She was booked into the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center without bond.
