Authorities are seeking more information about the driver in a fatal hit-and-run crash in San Jose earlier this month.

Gerald Boyer, 47, no permanent address, was identified by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office last weekend as the pedestrian killed in a San Jose intersection March 16. No other injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Authorities said Boyer was fatally struck by a vehicle at about 8:45 p.m. March 16 at the intersection of McLaughlin Avenue and Story Road. Investigators said they were unsure whether Boyer was struck by one vehicle or multiple vehicles.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The driver reportedly left the scene. Investigators have not yet released a description of the suspect vehicle.

Local media outlets described Boyer as a homeless man, but few other details have been released. Authorities did not say what led up to the crash or what factors they believe resulted in Boyer being fatally struck.

Anyone who has information about the incident can contact the San Jose Police Department. Anonymous tips can be left with Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers at 408-947-7867 or SVRCrimestoppers.org.
