Authorities: Dylan Orsburn Injured In 2-Vehicle Maricopa Crash

Authorities have released the name of a motorcyclist who suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night in Maricopa.

Dylan Orsburn, 24, of Taft, was injured in the wreck, which occurred at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday, according to the California Highway Patrol. No other injuries were reported in connection to the incident.

Investigators determined Orsburn was riding his motorcycle south on California 33 approaching Kerto Road when he crossed the highway’s centerline. The motorcycle crashed into a northbound pickup truck, ejecting Orsburn, troopers said.

Authorities said Orsburn was wearing a helmet. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries, according to investigators. A condition update was not available as of Tuesday evening.

The driver of the truck, William Blize, 74, of Maricopa, was not injured, according to the California Highway Patrol. He told authorities he was unable to avoid Orsburn’s motorcycle, and no citations nor charges were announced by investigators.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the crash.

They have not said what they believe led Orsburn to lose control of his motorcycle and strike the pickup truck. However, local media outlets report that California Highway Patrol investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
