The identity of the man who died on Sunday evening after his vehicle crashed into a big rig along 91 Freeway in the Carson City of Los Angeles County, California, has been disclosed by the police. The California Highway Patrol, on Tuesday, March 24, reported the victim as 24-year-old Alexander Garcia.
The fatal wreck took place at about 8:55 pm on Sunday, March 22, along the westbound Gardena 91 Freeway, located at Central Avenue, and left one of the victims dead, while the other emerged unscathed.
According to the CHP, a vehicle driven by the 24-year-old was heading west on the Freeway, following closely behind a big rig trailer-truck when it suddenly slammed into the rear of the other vehicle.
The car then got stuck underneath the truck and got dragged several feet before the operator of the vehicle pulled over, causing the smaller car to dislodge forcefully.
Officers of the state’s highway patrol arrived at the scene of the wreckage shortly after and discovered the severely injured motorist lying unconscious in his dented car. First responders attempted to rescue the crash victim, but he was pronounced dead upon recovery of his body.
The other motorist, whose name was withheld, was not reported injured in the collision, neither was any other casualty recorded.
Following the crash, authorities temporarily shut down all westbound lanes on 91 Freeway until the required on-site information was gathered.
The ghastly occurrence remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
