Police: George Volmer Killed In Rollover Payette Crash

Authorities said a 41-year-old man was killed in a crash Friday morning just east of Payette.

George Volmer, of Payette, died at a Boise hospital after the crash, which occurred just after 6 a.m. Friday on Idaho 52, according to the Idaho State Police. No other injuries were reported in a press release issued later Friday morning.

Police said Volmer was driving east on Idaho 52 at 6:09 a.m. Friday when he lost control of his vehicle. Volmer’s pickup truck veered off the highway’s right shoulder and the vehicle rolled, according to the release.

Volmer was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected during the crash, according to the Idaho State Patrol release. Emergency responders were called to the scene.

Volmer was transported by air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Authorities said Volmer’s next of kin has been notified. Police did not say in the press release what factors, such as speed, are thought to have contributed to Volmer losing control of his vehicle and crashing.

“Idaho State Police would like to remind motorists to wear their seatbelt as they are out driving,” police wrote in the press release.
