About two weeks after a 75-year-old female pedestrian was killed in a vehicle versus pedestrian accident in Sacramento, California, the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has revealed the fatal victim’s identity. The deceased was identified on Monday, March 30, as Maryann Jurmu, a Sacramento local.
Authorities confirmed that the woman met her end on Saturday, March 14, at the intersection of 65th Street and Sky Parkway, shortly after 8 pm.
Officers of the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the accident at about 8:07 pm, upon reports of a vehicle-pedestrian collision, and found the woman lying unconscious on the roadway, with multiple injuries.
It was gathered that the 75-year-old road user was walking across the freeway at the interchange of both streets when an oncoming vehicle, a black Chevrolet Sedan, tragically struck and knocked her to the ground.
The collision caused the elderly woman severe injuries. Paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after and tried to rescue the victim, but the Sacramento local succumbed to her fatal injuries before she was taken to the hospital.
The reports failed to confirm if the pedestrian was using the crosswalk at the time of the crash, which makes the liability uncertain. The motorist, whose identity was withheld, was not harmed in the collision.
No other information was released regarding the crash; however, the California Highway Patrol is actively investigating the traffic accident to determine the cause and liability of the vehicle-pedestrian fatality.
