Cyclist Who Died in Multi-Vehicle Collision in Apple Valley Identified as Daryl Louis Johnson


A man who was killed last week Tuesday in Apple Valley, California, after a motorcycle he was riding violently crashed into a tractor-trailer while traveling along the Interstate 15 Freeway has been identified by the police. The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office on Saturday, March 28, named the victim as Daryl Louis Johnson, a 62-year old resident of Summit Argo.

Authorities reported that the fatal collision took place at about 5:05 pm on Tuesday, March 24. Officers dispatched to the scene determined that the deceased was riding his motorcycle through the north traffic lanes of I-15 Freeway when for reasons yet unknown, he collided with a tractor-trailer in his path.

The impact of the collision expelled the cyclist from the bike onto the ground, resulting in multiple severe injuries, which he soon succumbed to.

Medics accompanying the emergency response team pronounced the elderly man dead shortly after their arrival.

Meanwhile, the identity of the trailer’s operator was not disclosed to the public. It was not immediately made clear if drugs or alcohol were suspected in the traffic accident.

The incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol to ascertain the cause of the tragic crash.
