Amid increasing demand for the services of a motorcycle attorney, a 22-year-old cyclist was killed on Sunday night after the motorcycle he was riding spiraled out of control and crashed along Interstate 680 in East Bay, California. Authorities on Tuesday, March 31, named the fatal victim as Emerson Quinonez Herrarte, a Concord resident.

The tragic incident happened at about 8:10 pm on Sunday, March 29. According to the California Highway Patrol, the motorcycle rider, for reasons yet to be determined, lost control of his bike while traveling through the north lanes on I-680. The 2004 Honda CBR motorcycle crashed upon approaching the exit ramp on El Cerro Boulevard.

Investigations revealed that following the motorcycle wreck, another vehicle plying the state route struck the fallen man, as confirmed by eyewitnesses present at the scene. Emerson Quinonez Herrarte died on the scene.

The operator of the other vehicle pulled over and waited at the site of the wreckage until the police arrived, and he cooperated with them. The identity of the motorist was not disclosed in the reports.

Following the crash, the northbound travel lanes on Interstate 680 were closed for hours by the CHP. The center median shoulder and the far left lanes were reopened at 9 pm, while the other lanes stayed closed until about 11:35 pm.

Investigations into the incident are still in the works to ascertain what caused the cyclist to lose control.

Traffic wrecks involving motorcycles have become prevalent in major highways across the State. Cyclists are encouraged to adhere to road safety regulations and consult a motorcycle attorney in the event of an accident.
