Investigators learned that Toro had fled the area in a black SUV. The vehicle was spotted nearby and a pursuit began.

The chase ultimately ended when the vehicle hopped a curb and entered a residential yard, according to car accident reports. Officials did not say whether anyone was injured in the incident.

Toro then “jumped onto the hood of the police cruiser” and attempted to flee on foot, but was caught a short time later on Marble Street, police said. Officers said Juan Toro had a BB gun in the SUV and was in possession of various pills for which he did not have prescriptions.

A press release from the police department said Toro will be arraigned. The home invasion is under investigation and additional charges could be forthcoming.
