Jamie Fox Killed in Single-Vehicle Wreck Near Lyle

Jamie Fox

Authorities said a woman was killed Friday evening in a single-vehicle rollover crash near Lyle. Jamie Fox, 38, of Carson, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, which occurred at about 7:30 p.m. Friday on Washington 14, the Washington State Patrol reported this week.

Five other people were in the vehicle at the time, though it’s unclear from car accident reports how seriously the others were injured in the incident. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to investigators.

Troopers said Fox was driving her vehicle west on Washington 14 west of Lyle at about 7:30 p.m. Friday when she drifted onto the eastbound shoulder. The vehicle hit an embankment and rolled, finally coming to a rest on the highway’s east shoulder.

Jamie Fox was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel, authorities reported. Two passengers, Whitney Baker, 24, and Matthew Long, 22, also of Carson, were taken to area hospitals after the wreck, according to car accident reports.

Three children also were in the vehicle at the time of the wreck, the Washington State Patrol reported. Authorities have not said that any of the children suffered injuries that required hospitalization.

The crash remains under investigation. Car accident reports released thus far by the state agency don’t say whether authorities suspect that other factors, such as intoxication, speed or inattentive driving might have contributed to the wreck. Additional car accident reports likely are forthcoming.
