Fatal Victim of Bicycle Accident in Palm Springs Identified as William Camp

The man who died in Palm Springs, California, after he was struck by a tractor-trailer while riding his bicycle along N, Gene Autry Trail, has been identified. Authorities disclosed the identity of the fatal truck-bicycle collision victim on Wednesday, April 15, as William Camp, a 62-year-old resident of Palm Springs.

It was not, however, disclosed whether the deceased’s family intends to file a wrongful death suit against the perpetrator, nor was the involvement of a bicycle accident attorney indicated.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the fatal wreck just after 4:05 pm on Tuesday, April 14. Preliminary investigation revealed that the cyclist was riding his motorcycle along a trail, located between E. Vista Chino Drive and E. Via Escuela Drive when an approaching big rig collided with him and knocked him to the ground.

First responders declared the bicycle rider dead at the scene. Police did not immediately disclose any information regarding the operator of the semi tractor-trailer that killed Camp. No other casualty was recorded in the fatal truck versus bicycle crash.

It remained unclear whether drugs and alcohol played a part in the ghastly accident. The traffic fatality is still under investigation to determine the cause of the collision.

Determining the cause of such accidents is important because it helps ascertain who bears the liability. It is important to seek the expertise of a bicycle accident attorney in bicycle-related crashes.
