Pedestrian Timothy Mayberry Fatally Struck by a Car After Falling From Pasco Overpass

A man is dead after falling from an overpass and getting struck by a passing vehicle in Pasco, Washington. The fatal occurrence took place in the afternoon of Sunday, April 19, as per accident reports provided by the Washington State Patrol.

The WSP said in a press release that at about 2:20 pm, troopers responded to a traffic crash on Highway 395. Upon their arrival, the responding officers found a severely wounded pedestrian sprawled on the roadway.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the injured victim fell from the Court Street overpass onto the north travel lanes on I-395. Almost immediately, a northbound 2-occupant Toyota Camry, driven by PIotr Sinyuk, a 79-year-old Pasco local, ran him over before he could recover his stance.

Emergency responders tried to resuscitate the victim with life-saving measures, but he succumbed to his injuries before he was taken to the hospital.

The Pasco authorities identified the deceased pedestrian as Timothy Mayberry, a 52-year-old resident of Hummelstown in Pennsylvania. Neither the motorist nor his sole passenger was injured in the fatal collision.

Investigators did not immediately establish what caused Mayberry to fall off the overpass. It remains unknown whether drugs and alcohol were factors in the fatal occurrence.

The crash led to backed up traffic in the Pasco area for hours as the police carried out the necessary on-site investigations.

The incident remains under investigation by the WSP. Further findings would be revealed in the accident reports once they are made available.
