A 67-year-old man, Jose Garcia-Ceron, has been identified as the deceased victim of the crash that occurred on the South Fairfax Road, Arvin, California. Accident reports say that the Kern County Sheriff’s Office identified the man on April 22, a day after the crash happened.

The accident involved a 2007 Dodge Caliber and a 2002 Chevy Suburban. The Dodge car was heading south on Fairfax Road and attempted to make a left turn onto Highway 223. Unknown to the driver, the Chevy, which was heading west on Bear Mountain Blvd., was approaching.

In an attempt to avoid a collision between the two vehicles, the driver of the Chevy swerved to the left. He was, however, struck on the right side, causing the car to overturn, before finally resting on the road’s east shoulder.

The Chevy car had six occupants, including the deceased, Garcia-Ceron, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. The other passengers sustained minor injuries. Meanwhile, the Dodge car had three occupants, who also sustained minor injuries. They received treatment at a local hospital where they were taken to after the crash occurred.

Accident reports say that the South Fairfax Road was closed after the crash happened, though it is now reopened. Investigations remain ongoing concerning the accident.
