Man Killed in Construction Site Accident in Los Angeles Identified as Juan Barajas

Authorities are investigating the death of a construction worker who met his end after encountering a work-related accident at LAX, California. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, on Sunday, May 10, disclosed the man’s name as Juan Barajas, a 39-year-old resident of Bloomington, as stated in the accident reports.

The fatal victim lost his life on Saturday, May 9, in a construction site at the Los Angeles International Airport, on 205 World Way.

Officers received news of the accident at about 5:57 a.m., prompting the deployment of an emergency response team consisting of fire department personnel and paramedics. Emergency responders pronounced Barajas dead at the scene.

Police did not disclose the nature of the worksite accident, or the preluding circumstances. Officials of the Los Angeles World Airport, via a press statement, sympathized with the victim’s family, friends, and colleagues.

Airport officials also used the medium to stress the importance of safety to the organization, saying it remained their top priority. They announced a two-day safety shutdown of the Automated People Mover project, which the fatal victim was reportedly working on before the accident.

The APM project involves an electric train system that constitutes a 2.25-mile elevated guideway with six stations slated to commence functionality by 2023.

Officials said the Cal-OSHA and the Airport Police Department led by the Los Angeles Police Department are investigating the accident. Authorities would reveal further findings in subsequent accident reports.
