The arrest of two DUI motorists over the weekend in downtown Spokane, Washington, following a highway crash calls for the expertise of a drunk driving attorney. Police reports on the accident ascertained that a female motorist and a tow truck driver got detained on Sunday evening, May 10, for DUI-related charges.
The incident began when officers received calls reporting a female motorist driving erratically and running several red lights. The woman eventually crashed her vehicle at about 8 p.m., and a tow truck came in to haul the wreck out of the roadway.
According to the Spokane Police Department, Jennifer Petrick was the driver of a Jeep Cherokee driving through the area of First Avenue and Washington Street. Upon approaching the intersection, the motorist failed to yield to the stop signal on the traffic light, entering the intersection out of turn. The Jeep crashed into other vehicles as a result.
Accounts from witnesses confirmed that Jennifer Petrick had previously jumped several other red lights while driving at a high rate of speed along First Avenue. Officers arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and found the motorist injured. They transported her to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident.
Detectives determined that the SUV operator was under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or both at the time. Following her release from the hospital, they took her into custody for DUI. The occupants of the other vehicles involved suffered minor injuries.
Meanwhile, officers observed that the driver of the tow truck that arrived at the scene later to clear the wreck smelled of marijuana. While engaged in a conversation with the deputies, the vehicle developed a mechanical fault, and rolled into a patrol car, causing minor damages to both vehicles.
A drug recognition expert determined that Kenen Pierce, 53, showed several signs of impairment. They also detained him on DUI charges.
Motorists facing DUI charges can contact an experienced drunk driving attorney for representation.
