Sean Mcnulty Arrested After Stealing Public Works Vehicle, Crashing In Cambridge

Police said New York City resident was arrested on multiple charges Monday after he stole a public works vehicle in Boston and crashed it into a fence in Cambridge.

Sean McNulty, 32, of Manhattan, was arrested on charges of motor vehicle larceny, leaving the scene of a property damage crash, reckless driving, unlicensed operation and wanton destruction of property valued at more than $1,200, the Cambridge Police Department reported. Car accident reports do not list any injuries that occurred in connection to the incident.

Authorities said McNulty stole a public works truck in South Boston on Monday morning and drove it to Cambridge. He eventually crashed it into a fence on River Street, according to car accident reports.

McNulty then attempted to flee the scene on foot, police said. However, he was apprehended at about 7:52 a.m. Monday not far from the crash scene.

Police have not said whether they have determined what led McNulty to steal the public works vehicle. Car accident reports available Wednesday afternoon do not say whether investigators believe factors like intoxication, speed or inattentive driving might have contributed to the wreck.

The incident remains under investigation. Additional charges and citations might be forthcoming.

Online court records don’t list any upcoming court dates, nor do they state whether McNulty has secured representation from an attorney.
