Joshua Acup Arrested for Wrong-Way Crash that Left Motorcyclist Injured in Fairfield

A drunk driving attorney would come in handy after an alleged drunk driver ended up in police custody for injuring a motorcyclist in Fairfield, California. The incident took place on Wednesday evening, May 13.

Solano County authorities dispatched officers to a location on Waterman Boulevard, and Edmonton Drive at about 4:40 p.m. Police said a wrong-way motorist struck the victim who was riding his motorcycle near the intersection at the time.

Preliminary investigations revealed the suspect, identified as Joshua Acup, 32, of Citrus Heights, was driving along Waterman Boulevard in an SUV. The motorist suddenly crossed the double-yellow lines into oncoming traffic where his vehicle collided with the motorbike.

The emergency response team arrived shortly after the traffic collision and found the accident victim severely injured. Medics transported him to a trauma center within the vicinity for treatment of severe, but non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities failed to disclose the identity of the injured man.

Meanwhile, Acup emerged from the wreck unharmed. Deputies determined he was driving under the influence when the crash happened. They booked him into the Solano County Jail, on charges of driving the wrong way, causing bodily injury or death and driving while intoxicated causing bodily injury or death. He remains in custody pending payment of a $50,000 bail term.

Following the crash, authorities shut down Waterman Boulevard between Vista Grande and Oliver Road for hours as investigators worked on the crash site.

Anyone involved in DUI-related auto accidents can contact a drunk driving attorney for counsel and representation.
