A motorist allegedly hitting the road while intoxicated was in police custody on Monday, in connection with a DUI fatal wreck in Jurupa Valley, California. The encounter leading to Keyshawn Henderson’s arrest happened early morning on May 18 and calls for the expertise of a drunk driving attorney.
Authorities got whiff of the tragic incident at precisely 2:15 a.m. Callers reported a collision involving a motorist and a pedestrian on Mission Boulevard, just east of Jurupa Road.
Preliminary reports showed the pedestrian, identified as Travis Green, 29, of Jurupa Valley, was on Mission when the suspect’s vehicle ran him over. The car, driven by 25-year-old Keyshawn Latrell Henderson of Moreno Valley, skidded forward without stopping, with the struck victim trapped underneath.
Henderson eventually pulled over near the intersection of Rathke Drive and Golden West Avenue, about 300 yards from the crash site.
When emergency responders extricated Green from underneath the car, he was already dead. Henderson and his sole passenger emerged uninjured.
A search of the suspect’s vehicle uncovered a container of alcohol. DUI investigators conducted a field sobriety test on Henderson, which he failed.
Officers arrested the driver immediately and transported him to the Riverside Jail. He faces charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol, causing death.
His arraignment at the Riverside Hall of Justice is slated for Wednesday, May 20, jail records show. The Riverside County authorities did not indicate if a drunk driving attorney was representing the suspect.
Investigators urged anyone with helpful information regarding the crash to get in touch with the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station.
