John Dethlefsen Arrested for Petaluma DUI Crash that Killed One Person

The driver whom the authorities took into custody for driving under the influence and killing one person in the Petaluma area of California would need auto accident attorneys’ services. On Tuesday, May 26th, the police arrested John Dethlefsen, 65, for his role in the accident.

The crash report released by the authorities placed the suspect in a white Honda Accord heading east on Corona Road near Highway 101 overpass. The investigating officers said in a press briefing that as Dethlefsen approached the overpass, he crossed the double yellow lines.

The act took the man into the westbound lanes of the roadway, where he struck a male bicycle rider. The officers said that the suspect continued driving on the wrong road onto the overpass, where he collided with an oncoming Ford F-150 pickup at about 9:28 a.m.

When responding paramedics arrived at the scene, they found the bicyclist lying on the pavement near the two cars that collided. The man passed away from his injuries at the scene, and the medics pronounced him dead. The authorities withheld his identity pending the notification of his next-of-kin.

Dethlefsen and the Ford driver were unscathed in the accident, and the investigators determined that the suspect was driving under the influence of drugs or (and) alcohol. The police arrested the man on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter, hence the need for auto accident attorneys’ services.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing. Anyone with helpful and relevant information should contact the Petaluma Police Department on the listed line.
