Bryan Cacy Identified as Man Who Died in Petaluma Auto-Bicycle Accident

An accident report update from the Petaluma area of California disclosed the identity of the bicycle rider whose life ended in a fatal auto-bicycle crash. On Wednesday, May 27th, the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Bryan Cacy, 39.

The Tuesday, May 26th, crash report by the Petaluma Police Department showed that the accident that ended the life of the man took place near an overpass on Corona Lane, precisely on Highway 101. The investigators said that a white Honda Accord driven by John Dethlefsen, 65, struck Cacy on the westbound lane of the roadway.

The driver of the Honda was traveling east when he suddenly crossed into the west side of the road. He kept going on the wrong way, climbed the overpass, and collided with a Ford F-150 truck before resting.

The emergency responders found Cacy deceased when they arrived, but the motorist and the Ford driver were unhurt. The investigators determined that Dethlefsen was under the influence of prescription pills at the time of the crash and took him into custody.

The PPD booked the suspect into the Sonoma County Jail and set his bail at $100 000. As of Wednesday night, the man is still in custody and facing felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges.

The accident report also disclosed that Cacy was a dedicated father of two children aged 7 and 12, and a longtime partner of Sarah Pine. He was a construction worker and a graffiti artist with works at The Phoenix Theater in downtown Petaluma and Sebastopol SkatePark.
