Charles Keeve Killed In 2-Vehicle Wreck In Washington, D.C.

Authorities said a Maryland man was killed early Friday morning when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle in Washington’s Ivy City neighborhood.

Charles L. Keeve, 28, of La Plata, Md., was killed in the wreck, which occurred shortly after midnight Friday, according to the Washington, D.C., Police Department. Car accident reports do not list any additional injuries that have been linked to the incident.

Police said Keeve was driving on New York Avenue near Fairview Avenue at about 12:15 a.m. Friday. He eventually collided with another vehicle, the driver of which was attempting to turn left onto Fairview Avenue, according to car accident reports.

Emergency medical services personnel responded to the scene, but Keeve had died as a result of his injuries before he could be transported to a hospital, authorities said. The driver of the other vehicle, who was not identified in car accident reports available Friday, was not injured.

The incident remains under investigation by the D.C. Police Department. It is unclear whether authorities believe either driver was intoxicated at the time of the wreck, though police did say Keeve was speeding just before the wreck.

Several of Keeve’s friends posted tributes to the late Maryland man on Facebook.

“Love you boy. We just talked last week,” wrote one friend. “So glad we told each other as black men that we loved each other as we got off the phone.”
