Devon Valdepena Hospitalized Following Hit-and-Run Accident in Oildale


A teenager was injured this week after a vehicle ran him over while riding his skateboard on a roadside in Oildale, California, would need the services of a top accident lawyer. The California Highway Patrol recorded the accident on the morning of Monday, June 1.

The CHP confirmed in a press release that the crash happened near the intersection of Norris and Rench roads. Witnesses called in the traffic crash at about 6:20 a.m., reporting that a teenage skateboarder was left injured following a collision involving a car and a teenage skater near the Meadows Field Airport.

Witnesses told officers that the teenager was riding a skateboard on the side of the roadway on Norris, headed for the intersection. At the same time, a car was crossing the intersection on Rench Road. For reasons yet to be established, the oncoming vehicle clipped the teenage boy, knocking him to the ground.

When the emergency response team arrived, they found the accident victim left with injuries on the roadway, with the motorist not present at the scene. Witnesses said the driver took off immediately after the collision without stopping to assist the victim.

An ambulance conveyed the juvenile to Kern Medical Center for treatment of minor to moderate injuries. Authorities later disclosed the minor’s identity as 14-year-old Devon Valdepena.

Detectives were unable to immediately come up with the identity of the hit-and-run motorist, or the description of his vehicle.
