Hit-and-Run Driver, Sarah Hale, Gets a Year Jail Sentence from San Luis Obispo Court

A San Luis Obispo Court, California, sentenced a woman to the county jail for one year for fleeing the scene of an accident that ended a man’s life. On Monday, June 1st, Sarah Hale, received her sentence, and her case called for the representation of a car accident lawyer.

The crash that led to the young woman’s fate happened on December 28th, 2018. The police report at the time revealed that Hale, after leaving Santa Maria Brewing Company, where she waited tables, chose to drive her car while intoxicated.

Concerned friends tried to convince the then 21-year-old woman not to drive drunk, but she failed to listen. The investigators said Montes Guillen got into the suspect’s car, but she pushed him out while driving away, and he landed on the pavement, thereby sustaining severe wounds.

Court documents showed that Hale had a .17 blood alcohol content at the time, but she successfully made it to her home. The police later picked the young woman from her residence and took her into custody on suspicion of DUI, driving with a BAL higher than .08%, and felony hit-and-run.

The woman made bail before the investigators found out that Montes died from his wounds. The DA’s office then brought a vehicular manslaughter charge against Hale. In February, she pleaded no contest to the charges, hence her reduced sentence.

The convicted suspect is expected to serve half of her sentence and commence a 5-year probation period afterward. There is currently no information on when the sentence would begin.

Those involved in this kind of case should contact a car accident lawyer for legal advice and representation.
